It is unfortunate to bring into your attention for the death of the two Chin refugees in Delhi.
The two Chin refugees in Delhi were mowed down to death by a vehicle on 23.02.2011 (Wednesday) at round about 2:00 am. The deceased are indentified as Mr. Lal Uk Bik (UNHCR Number: 08C01232) and Mr. Van Lal Uk (UNHCR Number: 09C01074). And this horrible tragedy happened while the two deceased were on their way back to home after working at the wedding service as a waiter till midnight.
Mr. Lal Uk Bik was survived by a wife and 2 years old son.
Mr. Van Lal Uk is unaccompanied minor.
Mr. Lal Uk Bik is under consideration for refugee status from UNHCR and his Refugee Status Determination is set for 10.5.2011. He is the main earning person in their family and the bereft widow family’s future is very much at risk in terms of survival.
These types of Hit and Run cases have been happening to the Burmese refugees for several times. Even though the police were informed, none of the cases had been solved until today.
Most of the Burmese refugees here in Delhi feel life is quite at risk.
